Mazatlan City of Contrasts Part 2

I want to change the name of the blog - not The Golden Years part but the lifeinbrowncounty part. Seeings how we won't be in Brown County any more. And I usually write more when we are traveling somewhere. But can't think of anything catchy.
Not too much going on with us as we wait for the part to get here to fix Willie. He is driveable but we take the chance of the part causing problems with something else and/or it breaking completely and leaving us in the middle of the road somewhere.
So I will continue writing about our walk around Centro the other day. Bill looking across the street from the Library at some of the stores there. It never ceases to amaze me how small some of them are.
A tree in bloom next to the Library.
And the front of the Biblioteca - Library.
Looking across the other street at the buildings there. One old - one more modern. The old one sure is prettier.
And one of the most painted and photographed streets in Mazatlan - Angel Flores. The homes have been restored and are mostly owned by Norte Americanos.
Same street different angle.
A window that has been bricked over and enclosed by wrought iron. Growing from a crack in the plaster is a plant. It is growing downward, not from the ground up.
Just Many years ago part of this was a German General Store.

Across the street was a huge wall. A part still left standing of a big building. Growing out of the top of the wall is a big tree. The roots going down the wall to the ground.
Another couple shots of the tree and it roots.

Some one took a lot of time to paint this piece of plywood covering an old window.
On our way home. This is the stretch - see the lighter colored part - road that was all dug up to put the tunnel under it. Got completed in a very short time.
Here is a fence put up in front of some construction. Clever way of disguising it.
Before I forget. Our friend Rafael the singer won't be playing in the Plazuela Machado on Friday nights any more. From this week on he'll be playing there on Sunday nights. And on Tuesdays and Wednesdays he'll be playing from 6:00 to 9:00 at the Torres Hotel right across the street from us.
I don't think we'll be doing much today so tomorrow I'll write about and post some pictures of the old hotel in the plaza. The Hotel Machado.

  1. What a great header shot! Is that good that he is playing Sunday rather then Friday or ????
